Where is Manchester United heading?

Last year was obviously the worst year united had since I started following football... well Fergie was in-charge of united before I was born.. so the worst year before the 'Moyes era' was when we were pipped by City on goal-difference for the title and I had cried myself to sleep....

Moyes is a decent man and a good manager and I was pretty enthusiastic about his appointment but in hind-sight he wasn't the right man for united as he never came to terms with the change from let's not lose to we HAVE to win every match...

and in comes LVG this season with half of the summer already gone and most of the smart clubs already having completed their business before he had even signed for us... Understand this in the context of Ed Woodward, the Glazers, Moyes panic sub-par signings and the last few years of underinvesting fergie and sale of decent youngsters, he had too much to do in not enough time...

he did pretty well considering... till the season started...

the first month was a shock but we could see improvements in the team and when the transfer window shut there was real hope that he'd be able to pull us through even after the disastrous start..

then the injuries started piling up.. bad luck or bad management is for the experts to judge but it definitely forced LVGs hand in terms of playing style / players and he again showed his experience to steer the team through the phase....

But post-christmas has really been a baffling time, injuries cleared up, fixture list was favorable but LVG seems to have lost the confidence / belief he had to start with... and in his arrogance seems to have sacrificed herrera, playing the best players (Rooney & di Maria) out of position, persisting with rvp who is at least 2-years past his sell-by date...

He is obviously a great manager but if he can convince his ego to take a break for a couple of months, united should finish in top-3 and may challenge for the second spot easily... But if he continues to try to prove his ideas then we might miss out on the champions league for a second consecutive season and he will definitely not see through his 3 year contract....
